Bursaries Services

Following the introduction of variable fees and mandatory discretionary bursaries SLC were mandated to deliver a bursary administration service for English and Northern Ireland HEIs

As a result, the Higher Education Bursary & Scholarship Scheme (HEBSS) was launched in June 2006.

HEBSS offers two alternative services: Information Only and Full Administration. These are managed on a "not for profit, not for penalty" contract.

Similarly, from Academic Year 07/08 the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) and The Department for Education and Skills (Dfes) adopted the approach of flexible tuition fees to support widening participation in HEIs. WAG and HEW endorsed SLC as the provider for the administration of the mandatory Welsh National Bursary and HEI specific discretionary bursaries and scholarships (optional) and, as a result the Welsh Bursary Scheme (WBS) was launched in July 2007.  If you would like more information on either of the above services please contact your Relationship Manager.
