The Financial Information Service provides functionality which enables institutions to capture, edit and maintain their own financial information. This information is used to populate the Student Finance Calculator tool, which, depending on the student's domicile, is accessed via Directgov, Student Finance Wales or Student Finance NI.

In addition to the estimate of national support entitlement prospective students can also view supplementary financial information on a chosen institution (web address, course fees, information on bursary and scholarships offered along with the relevant contact details). Please note that information provided by HEIs should not be "formatted". All HEI specific information should be standardised and therefore "formatting" is not permitted. Prior to the service going live SLC issued the named FIS Primary Contact at each institution with guidance notes and templates for completion.
